New release Evaluation 5.14

The release notes provide information on the features and improvements in the specified version.

New features & Improvements

USABILITY, CONFIGURATION - Disable validation on Next button in case of free evaluation navigation - EV-177

In case sidebar is enabled for an evaluation, the participant is allowed to freely navigate the evaluation. This means that the existing check on 'required' prevented the Next button to be enabled if any required question was not answer in any of the previous blocks.

This has been changed where in case of an evaluation with sidebar (free navigation) the following rules are applied:

  • No validation on the Next button (always enabled)
  • Hide the continue button

USABILITY - Multi-year reports should enable configuration to use the template start/end date - EV-88

Multi year reports, used to combine evaluation results over multiple years in case the number of respondents in an individual year doesn't meet the minimal required number of respondents, will respect the start/end date of the report template, hiding evaluations outside of the date range set. This can be used in case the evaluation template has had major changes in the previous years and only results after the change should be considered.

Reports now also include an informative (i) text when the number of respondents on a question deviates from the total number of respondents.

REPORT, USABILITY - New reporting visualisation option, including navigation - EV-147

To improve the readability and navigation of reports with a large number of blocks and questions a new report visualisation option 'Cards view' is added. This option allows blocks and text or bullet questions to be displayed as sub-cards.

The new option has the following options:

  • Sticky, Collapsible, and Interactive Sidebar
A configuration options is added to display a sidebar that offers direct navigation to each block, feedback, summary, tags, filters, etc. This sidebar is user-friendly, automatically updates on scroll, and can be used to navigate to different sections of the report. The sidebar can be hidden using the button in the top-left corner and is only visible on desktop.
  • Support for text and bullet type questions
The cards support all the visualisations, but only text and text bullet visualised questions will be displayed in a separate sub-card.
  • Show/hide blocks
A configuration is added to only show the questions in cards view and don't show the block they are part of.
  • Consistent display
Fixed an issue where the summary did not display the same information on desktop as it did on mobile.
Fixed an issue that may show the hidden evaluation summary when enlarging the font size in the browser

User can toggle (show/hide) the sidebar navigation

Configuration

USABILITY - Disable Submit button on final page in case not al required questions are answered - EV-157

In the case of evaluations with sidebar navigation enabled, an alert (when hide submit page is not enabled on the evaluation type) is shown and the submit button is disabled with a tooltip (Page.Participate.Page.Overview.Unanswered.Required) if at least one required question in the evaluation is not answered.

In case not all required questions are answered the Submit button is disabled

USABILITY - Sort filter options using tags alphabetically - EV-149

The evaluation overview page allows to filter on a tag, e.g. a faculty or study. The filter options are now sorted alphabetically (ascending), making it easier to find the right value.

BUG - Only show the relevant button on the feedback page - EV-159

On the feedback page both the New and Edit button to manage the feedback were shown. A change is applied to only show the relevant button, e.g. New to define a new feedback and Edit to change an earlier entered feedback.

BUG - Copy an existing evaluation should copy the selected blocks - EV-153

The evaluation copy didn't copy over the block configuration. This has been fixed, so when copying an existing evaluation the inactive blocks and the inactive state is copied over. This ensures that the blocks in use will match the original evaluation.

BUG - PDF export sometimes fails - EV-151, EV-156

The PDF export failed with a 'Server error' in cases when a report for a template without a report type was used.

Next to that large combined reports (> 100 evaluations) using a specific report template could fail with a 'Server error' too, since the system runs out of memory to gather and combine all the evaluations.

Both problems have been resolved.
